Are you a geek and you are not really motivated
to go out for a run? Let me help you! This is Bertalan Mesko and you’re watching
the channel of The Medical Futurist. It’s really hard to find motivation to go
out for a run or to do exercises every single day. I struggle with that, just like you.
I only go out for a run if I can measure data, I’m a geek. So I need gadgets, wearable devices
and data as the reward at the end to make sure I will go out for a run again and again.
I thought that I would share my methods with you and those devices I use to make sure that
as a geek you will find the motivation yourself to go out for a run.
I use my smartphone in this small pocket on my arm and I either use one application called
Zombies, Run! in which I’m in a virtual world after a zombie attack, I get voice messages
from people around the world (virtual people) and we have to run away from zombies. The
second one I use is Runkeeper which gives me pure data about my running sessions. That’s
quite a good reward for me. Moreover, I use two different fitness gadgets
to make sure I can measure even different kinds of data besides that. This is Withings
Pulse which I wear on my belt. It can measure the number of steps I’ve taken, the distance,
number of calories and I wear it on my right side while I use the second device called
FitBit on my left side. So these can measure the same kind of data but I just want to make
sure it’s quite accurate. I use Wahoo on my chest on a strip that measures
quite accurately my pulse during the running sessions and I can see the data on my smartwatch,
the Pebble, because any of these devices can transmit the data to the smartphone, this
way to the smartwatch as well. So when I go out for a run, I wear some of
these, sometimes all of them, but it gives me a motivation to go out for a run again
and again. I hope that you will share your own geek methods for finding motivation to
do exercises with me on the Facebook page of The Medical Futurist! Thank you!
