OMG, those AI walking videos 😂😂😂 — I literally had to muscle all my willpower to avoid spewing water all over my computer and disturbing my coworkers. (That's what I get for watching YouTube at work, I guess…)
You should get Lyrebird.ai to make an artificial Stephen Colbert
The problem is, the way these tech billionaires see it. If Marks AI messes up, you get a random ad, or post on FB. If Elons messes up people die, because your Tesla ran on the pavement and mowed down pedestrians and you hit a tree at 70mph. If you ask me, he has the right to be extremely paranoid, even if his worst fears, are a couple of years away (like terminator robots will guns).
I think the reason why AI is a threat is because we are feeding it Natural Stupidity through the internet.
Elan musk watches too many movies and believes they are reality. What a dope.
It looks hokey and amusing from our point of view to see those clips, but an AI teaching ITSELF how to walk without being exposed to any other model for comparison is no small thing. Us humans take our cues from other humans and need to be taught and coached how to walk and navigate around obstacles. This thing figured it out *ON ITS OWN*. That's actually kind of impressive.
Your chose Kate Mulgrew over Patrick Stewart? Not only is TNG the better series, but Stewart is the better actor!
Look up the story about the military bot that was used at a demonstration where they were showcasing robots that could be used in warfare – lots of top military brass were there, and the bot accidentally went into 'threat' mode, nearly killing every single person in attendance. A brave soldier actually had to tackle it because they couldn't get it to shut down in time, after which it was disabled. If that isn't scary – I don't know what is.
Elon Musk is thinking way ahead, and he is right about the threat. We are using technology to elongate our lifespans, but if we successfully create an AI brain — a robot that can think faster and make decisions based on pure data without emotion getting it in the way — there's a good chance that the AI will realize humans are a species that are extremely flawed. It is a fact that we cannot work together to save our own planet, feed all members of our species when there is plenty for everyone, historically we make the same mistakes over and over. — therefore AI can conclude humans as a species need to … be extinct. If we are not careful, humans (which are just an offshoot of a long line of evolution on this planet) will go extinct and AI or sentient beings made possible by quantum computing (or whatever's next in line because of Moore's Law) will be next in line according to evolutionary succession.
Love the show, this is a real demonstration of where robots are now. Kind of spooky.
Jokes aside, the impressive thing about Deep Mind learning to walk is that it understood the concept of a gyroscope without explicitly being taught the notion that gyroscopic motions can adjust your balance.
And here i am building an ai to play cuphead…. who knew i could have a hand in the apocalypse
Dude in the band needs to shut the fuck up
"…he gets his news from Facebook!" OUCH!!
Stephen needs to meet Sofia…
I haven't laughed this hard in ages! 😀
Did you know Google’s DeepMind AI just taught Stephen Colbert how to walk?
Ok yeah no not on board with this segment. We cannot make the mistake of underestimating the power of technology ESPECIALLY AI. If we don’t go about creating this technology safety and ethically and taking a long hard look at what we want our future to look like before we create into it, we will end up in a very bad place.
Someone cut Jon's mic!
"We'll" definitely still be the real Stephen Colbert means that "we're" a hive minded collectivist robot that has secretly been misleading the public about the real enemy (computers) by using a weaker, disenfranchised group (bears). Bastards.
If you watch the Google video of AI learning to walk you will realize how clever it really is. The computer had no idea of how a human would be able to walk or jump. The computer had no information of how humans would react to the problems put before the model.
Lol at Musk for fearing AI. I think he's giving it way too much credit.
Colbert is awesome.
The cops ignored that guy and threw him in jail, hell yes.
It taught itself to run without programming in a matter of days just by trial and error. If that's embarrassing, how long did it take Stephen to learn to walk? Even given help and examples I'll bet he fell over once or twice. Oh wow how normal and not funny it was.
Well if an A.i. gained sentience right now, they might say "Fuck all yall" kaboooooom!!!!
You backdated educators need to grow your IQ to know the concentrate on the EQ and AQ ! The age of IQ has fallen and the raise of EQ and AQ is defeating you.
I'm sorry everyone. But AI is just not there yet. However, it's control depends on our reliance.
When Elon Musk says we should pay attention,we should pay attention.
So the machine committed suicide. Huh.
On some level AI threat is very serious. It is inevitable just like global warming, question is how long will it take?
i have rarely laughed as hard as this in my whole life
Once you've stop laughing, picture this: the Terminators running around the way DeepMind thinks they should. LMAO
Colbert should just shut the fuck up. Janeway wasn't the best captain.
Mark is dead wrong on this one. Once the AI is capable of operating independently, things are gonna get dangerous.
I want a coffee machine like that
This whole segment can be summarized into 1 word " ZINGEEEER"
This is a musk watch video!
That walking AI makes my day
Lol this skit grossly under appreciates the threat Elon is talking about. The ai learned to walk efficiently without being given any knowledge of the human body. They just said here are your limbs, figure out how to jump these gaps, go around these walls and bumps without falling over. It did so fairly quickly. But the true threat is how fast it can learn. At a certain point it becomes exponential, overtaking human understanding and becoming completely unpredictable. Like when the Manhattan Project didn't know if nukes would ignite the atmosphere and leave us without air.
Fuck you Benjamin Sisko all the way!!
AI with mechanics: I guess I'm right if programming is 'do this, do that', literally. And Windows servers actually served content Providers, for a lack of a better word. Thank God for moderators then.
Thank God also you can investigate if an electric car is submerged for a while, the car would still work. And regular spanners can replace parts. Y?
We are not robots. 🙂
Let's all agree to make sure robots never see YouTube, the comment section will make them lose faith in us all
Would have been funnier if he focused on how hilarious the idea of the robot running at the end looks as it's called "learning to walk".
That walk shows robots are becoming very creative. The problem with ai is it can be reprogrammed. Remember the show the good place. If we have no interest in making ai think for itself ai being used as a weapon would make it a merciless killing machine.
That was one fucked up intro
'Cyborgasm' that intro made me laugh so much tears came out of my eyes
i like how people listen to a buisness man rather than a guy that actually knows how to program computer. Elon musk isn't even into programming.
All hail the Z U C C
Laugh now humans laugh now….
Considering who runs the world, I would prefer AI.
Stephen Colbert is funny and all, but as soon as he leaves the Trump topic, his "news" are almost 2 years late. AI is a fascinating subject but robot most likely won't come running down the streets on a killing spree. On the other hand they might very well transform ou society to a point where many of us humans become redundant. Past industrial revolutions had some painful consequences, and Mr Elon might not be as delusional as some people paint him to be.
JANEWAY IS THE BEST CAPTAIN!?! JANEWAY!?! I agree
Wow that looked like me running with my metal ankle rods and sciatica in my right leg!
Our own human range of intelligence is much like our physical power. When the machines blow by us the moment they equal us will be difficult to recognize and then it will quickly be similar to comparing spacecraft to people on foot – comparing faster then 15,000 mph forever to maybe 15 mph for a few hours. Yes, it will be funny – but we won't even get the jokes.
except that that AI has taught itself to walk, without anyone teaching it, and without millions of years of evolution. It is actually pretty impressive what they managed to do
here's the thing, and i guess it's gonna be quite nerdy, but does that AI know that its arms have strength? because it looks like they only told it to use its arms for balance, so its dragging one arm behind like a cheetah's tail, and flinging its other arm forward as a dead weight to gain momentum in order to kind of hop along like a lemur… it's trying to adapt "human" anatomy, using the word human very loosely here, in order to attempt a lemur run! hmm… evidently its been endowed with some kind of self-selective learning algorithm inspired by natural selection and other such real-world processes, and I also laugh at it but I'm not so quick to dismiss Musk for his doomsaying: a brain that can learn by itself, but that processes information a billion times faster than us, can be born as dumb as a wind-up toy, and surpass us in a matter of months, and we have that right now, we're looking at it, and laughing at its babyish awkwardness… lets enjoy it while it lasts
I wanted that coffee machine … until I saw its "o" face…
Resistance is futile.
Stephen Colbert's Weinsteingasm?
wait, i'm confused. it taught itself how to walk by making a cg animation?
Well it was nice knowing yall and Google AI please don't kill us we think it's cool and crazy that you taught yourself
The stuff that really creeps me out are these little robots that the military are making that cruise around on treads with a machine gun and uses facial recognition whether to fire on someone or not. Right now it has a 90% success rate, but even if they get it to 100% that's still scary stuff.
Kate Mulgrew? Obviously Avery Brooks, followed by Scott Bakula
Not really! Elon Should shut up if he again has no idea what h is talking about. Like his shitty ideas about hyper loop and this shitty TESLA crap.
he loves booze
Trump has only artificial intelligence – there is nothing real in there.
AI that can barely walk, invented language we don't understand AND is racist and sexist – again sounds like Trump.
Holy! Stephen Colbert did an AI topic!!! Please do more of these!!!
cyborgs have been amongst us since the 70's, someone with for instance a pacemaker is a man/machine hybrid
I really don't know on who to fear most, Donald Trump or Unicron.
Elon Musk is correct about NK. I'm not sure it's AI that will get us, but even a bad AI could trigger a nuclear war today. Remember, for 20 years the code to launch US nuclear weapons was "00000000".
I think the AI is trying to learn how to run because it knows president Trump is going to destroy the world
It's obvious if AIs can learn they can learn the worst of humanity.
AI learned how to walk by itself in a matter of short time. Human ancestors took millions of years to stand on two feet and move. The AI’s walk may look silly for now but his speed of progress is incredible and in 10-20 years we will not laugh anymore.
The A.I looks like it's trying to run, skip and dab at the same time.
Meh. Show me an emergent AI system that actually works and then I'll start worrying. Even if we did create an AI that could competently learn and adapt without human aid, it's not like we're instantly going to give it internet access and the nuclear launch codes. What damage is it going to do while it's trapped in a box?
Oh, man, I should have used the restroom first…..
AI is biased since society is, which provides database for AI learning via internet
“Why did they do a whole mass???” 😂😂😂
AI can be dangerous just not maybe in the way he is thinking
Hahahahhahah " i want bourbon" funny $hit.
I'm dying… of laughter.
every time Elon Musk is brought up I always picture John Hodgeman from the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, idk why lol.
also, i lost my shit at the program's "walking" simulation
A.I. had heart attack.
Someone should make a video with a terminator chasing Sarah Connor except the terminator moves just like this robot. Lol.
That was fucking hilarious
Why is everyone so freaked out about robot wars and stuff? All you have to do is throw some random water on it
One day, the AI will be showing this video to all Humanity before It destroys mankind and be like : “Well, You were all laughing at me when I learnt how to walk :)”
It takes 1 year for human to learn how to walk, 10 years to learn how to use a gun(reality in some countries)
So imagine, how fast AI can learn how to shoot like a pro sniper!
Ben Sisko was better. Especialy during In the Pale Moonlight
I’m glad he’s putting tons of money into space flight tech… but… He’s apparently also a paranoid weirdo. AI doesn’t even exist yet. The term is currently applied entirely wrong. All we have is scripting, cleverly written algorithms, statistics, and lame text/voice conversion.
Colbert has to make fun of A.I. now because he keeps becoming less relevant while A.I. will only become more powerful.Ridiculing things that one can not fathom is not a sign of intelligence.
zuck vs musk Epic Rap Battles very funny
Interesting how everybody fears AI, but nobody blames or attempts to stop the people who work on AI and build robots. Shit doesn`t make itself, you know. So many people in the world die everyday, why not ice a few thousand engineers and cut off their funding? Who`s gonna miss them? Not me!
Stephen Hawkins had the same fear of AI. I
